Description
The probe sent into the Delta Serpentis system has reported sobering news. The Shivans outnumber the terrans 2:1. GTI plots a daring strategy, as humanity goes on the offensive. Dubbed Operation Warlord, it will determine the fate of the human race. Sequal to 'Eye of the Storm'

Storyline: 3.5 Stars
This features a basic "take the offensive back to the Shivs" story, but it is handled very well. The briefings are extremely professional, aside from a couple misspellings ("suprize").

Oh. My. God. The weapons and ship selection is PERFECT. The player can take almost anything, and there's a perfect number of guns and craft... besides which, the computer fighters are in perfect numbers, fun and everything. Suffice it to say that the rating sums it all up in this category.

So... close... and yet....

For the most part, Divine Wind kicks something FIERCE. It involves the scanning of a Demon so that an Orion can have the data to ram it, then defending it as it makes its run, and a brief standard defense and mopup. This is fantastic. You feel GREAT, riding escort on the Orion as it bears down on the Sinister, cartwheeling through space as you blow bombs out of the sky. It's GREAT. Then as you curve back from the four kilometer explosion (say goodbye to your wingmen...) an Orion and several fighter wings arrive to help slaughter a newly-come Demon, in a great finale.

Despite that, it's still damn fun. As I said, the feeling of pure, raw fun is amazingly prevelant throughout Divine Wind. Even at the end, when I looked back and found a few Nephilim and a heavily damaged Lilith still intatct, the mission maintained - by design or chance- the feeling of an epic. I found myself soaring back at my last, weakened foes and a newly arrive Destroyer guns blazing, through the wreckage of a pair of Demons and an Orion, having the time of my life. This, ladies and germs, is why I play FreeSpace. Cause of damn fun missions like this.

Other Thoughts:
Kudos for acknowledging the Japanese origin of Kamikaze - Divine Wind.

Bottom Line: Damn fun in all ways. An epic feeling
Highs: Fun, a blast, a thrill, etc.
Lows: Um... Er... Ah...
