Description
The President of the Terrian Alliance is traveling through the Beta Aquilae system aboard Stellar One in order to attend a conference in the Antares system. Providing escort is Sigma wing and the GTC Leviathan. As an added precaution Alpha and Beta wings will provide additional escort.

Storyline: 4.0 Stars
Not super-original, but done well with a fine briefing. An explanation of why the Prez is flying in a Leviathon as opposed to an Orion would have been nice, but for the most part this is a good story.

Balance: 4.5 Stars
Any fighter save the Apollo is available, which is fine since an intercepter (Valk or Ulysses) is neccesary anyway. Missles and weapons are abundant, but the default setups are acceptable (for once). As for the in-mission balance, while a bit hard, it's great. The player must keep on his toes all the time, and the Liberty is by no means impossible to defend, for an average player.

Design: 3.5 Stars
The design in PL is - almost - flawless. The enemy wings coming out to attack the Liberty are sized quite well, with the challange increasing as the Liberty and its Leviathon escort, the Leviathon (Ouch. Bad name, Mr. Spruill) get closer to the warpout point. There's a fantastic setup at the very end that provides an amazing adrenaline rush, making for, all in all, a really cool mission. One caveat: it seems to take forever for the Liberty to arrive at the mission's beginning.

Gameplay: 5.0 Stars
By now, you've probably gotten the idea that this is a must-download. Well, that's the right idea. This is one of the best escort missions yet, making use of a wide variety of fighters, although a wing or five of Anubi would have made a good warm-up slaughter at the opening. I would reccommend PL to any serious FreeSpace player, although it is rather hard... but for a good player, that's a good thing.

Other Thoughts:
Kudos to the designer for electing to not use the standard wing names... and actually using GOOD substitutes. Ursa wing would be fine if it weren't a bomber.

Bottom Line: A damn fine escort mission.
Highs: Fun, good story, and an excellent ramping-up of the enemy threat.
Lows: Takes forever for the Liberty to arrive.
