Description
A quick and bloody little battle. Three GTVA corvettes with fighter and bomber cover engage the SD Daemon and its fighters and bombers.

Storyline: 4.5 Stars
Well, here goes. The Shivan destroyer Daemon managed to get through a GTVA blockade. While it lost its escorting cruisers, it still has a full complement of fighters and bombers and is currently heading towards a GTVA Command Center in Vega.
The briefing is nice, although there are a lot of icons. The debriefing is also quite thorough.

Balance: 3.5 Stars
Oh how I'd hate to be a Shivan in this one. The Daemon faces some massive odds here which include resistance from three corvettes and three wings of fighters (two more on standby). There's little doubt that you are going to win this mission - the Daemon never departs.

Design: 3.0 Stars
The author was not kidding in the mission description. This mission takes less than three minutes to complete and the player doesn't really have to do much to succeed. It's all a question of how many corvettes you want to save. All of the ships in this mission are very clumped together, so fending off a fleet of Shivans attacking one of the corvettes is a difficult task.
Also, the Return to Base directive is rigged improperly.

Gameplay: 3.0 Stars
It's fun, and you'll want to play it again - especially when you need that quick fix of Freespace action. But, even then, this mission is way too short for its own good.

Other Thoughts:
This would have been a more better mission if it was twice as long.

Bottom Line: A good offensive mission, but it is way too short and there are no surprises.
Highs: It's a quick, bloody encounter against the Shivans.
Lows: It's a quick, bloody encounter against the Shivans.
