Description
This is my 1st mission ever for FS2, so try not to jusge it so harshly. In this mission, you have to scan some cargo, but then things take a turn for the worse...

Storyline: 2.0 Stars
The basic storyline of this mission is conveyed fairly well though the briefing, and though the briefing icons are badly named, the ships and icons match up, which is good. The debriefing is okay, though a bit short and exaggerated in my opinion and though there are few messages in the mission itself, theyÂ’re written fairly well.

Balance: 2.5 Stars
This isnÂ’t a particularly tough mission to beat, involving dogfighting with bombers for the most part with a bit of disabling and disarming and some escort thrown into the mix too. The mission doesnÂ’t flow as well as it could, and thereÂ’s a short lull as the transport arrives to capture the Moloch corvette, but the rest of the mission plays fairly well.

Design: 2.5 Stars
The design of this mission may only be basic but it serves its purpose. The worst thing that you’ll notice in game is that the capital ships are just named ‘SD Ravana 44’ or whatever. This is a minor distraction really. The supposed Shivan cargo is also a TC-TR1, which belongs to Terrans, though there’s some use of Alt-naming there and the author even remembered to put ships into the Escort list. When the Moloch is captured it changes IFF, which is also good. One of the goals fails to validate, however, leading to a failed objective even when successful.

Gameplay: 3.0 Stars
The mission plays fairly well, especially considering itÂ’s a first effort from the author. Some parts remind me superficially of the demo mission ‘Crisis in CapellaÂ’, which is no bad thing as it was a good mission. Fighting in the mission isnÂ’t particularly difficult and itÂ’s okay in terms of fun, though IÂ’d have liked to see some variety in terms of things to fight rather than just bombers. They donÂ’t make for the most intense of opponentsÂ

Other Thoughts:
With a promising start like this (considering itÂ’s a first try) IÂ’d like to see some more work from this author.

Bottom Line: A good mission for a first attempt. Still lacking in some areas, but playable despite flaws. This mission could actaully be improved vastly with some improvement in several areas, none of which is very difficult.
Highs: Fairly successful all around and surprisingly playable to boot.
Lows: Basic design in many areas, fairly easy.
