Description
A bomber wing is sent to destroy the Cain class crusier, Shamus, Before it can reach a jump node. Intillgence belives that the HOL captured the Shamus and it's escort before it made it to the communications fleet.
Storyline:
Intercepting a Cain and killing it in a small window of time is a great plot element, although the briefing is rather badly created. I must, however, question the logic of the HoL capturing a Shivan craft... aren't they helping our nihilistic buddies to wipe out Life As We Know It? (Life As We Know It and all likenesses thereof tm and C 1934 Spaz, Inc)
Balance:
Do the words "abysmal" mean anything? There are - barely - enough missles to equip all fighters with next-gen technology, but that's actually a moot point. You see, the enemy comes... and dies. Fast. Really fast. Like flies. Flies with lasers and shields, but flies nonetheless. And the Shamus doesn't last much longer. To be somewhat immature about it, it goes splat real quick. Too easy by far.
Design:
Other than that small issue of total lack of difficulty, there are no technical problems in LoT. It'd be nice if the reinforcement wave had a standard name (Gamma or Delta) so that its casualties could be tracked on the counter, but oh well. Still, this seems a pretty bad design issue. I would guess that the creator - at the time he made this - was not so good at FS.
Gameplay:
Sadly enough, I just can't enjoy a mission this easy. It's not even a turkey-shoot, because there aren't enough turkeys.
Other Thoughts:
Do llamas like pizza?
