Description
A new ship building installation has just been constructed and you aboard the GTD London have been assigned the job to defend it.
Storyline:
The storyline is alright. It was kind of innovative, but the story was a bit deeper than what you actually needed to know. The story also was consistant with the FS Universe, a major plus. The briefing was really good, the ships were represented nicely on the screen, and the animations fit the briefing. However, I couldn't get to the debriefing due to a glaring design flaw.
Balance:
The balance was absolutely horrible. There were at least four wings of four fighters versus two cruisers and 8 fighters. I didn't take any damage in any of the three times I played the mission through, and I doubt any of the wingman had damage either. I know for a fact that the ships I had to protect were in no danger whatsoever. And even though the briefings didn't have any spelling errors, the load-outs for the ships weren't even touched. Possibly something to fix the next time around for this mission.
Design:
As I said before, the mission couldn't be completed. I think the designer intended to have the transports jump out, but all they did was hover around the jump node like herded cattle. In the heat of battle, even my machine got slowed down due to the massive amount of friendly ships taking on the terribly out-numbered enemies...no waves were given for the enemy flight groups.
Gameplay:
Even though there were way too many friendlies, the gameplay was surprisingly active...until you killed all the enemies and were waiting for the transports to warp out (which never happened).
Other Thoughts:
If the author fixed the warp-out bug, and got rid of some, or maybe 75% of the friendlies, this mission could be pretty great.
