Description
No messing this time. Retrieve some stolen cargo and escort it to the Jump Node.
Storyline:
The story is still the Technology plotline, which involves a laughable future in which a lack of a mineral reduces technology almost to a pre-Shivan War level. Um, yeah. Right. This particular mission involves retrieving a stolen cargo of this mineral, and although the briefing is well-done, it does nothing to make the storyline any less strange.
Balance:
There's no balance issue in Tech2, although the technology available is little enough to make any jaded pilot wince. There aren't even enough Interceptors to fill up a full Valkyrie! This isn't so bad, since the dual Avengers provided are sufficient to wipe up a few unshielded Anubi, but it's still damn annoying, and the "we need this mineral" plot doesn't explain why we can't even get a damn Ulysses to work, or more Interceptors to be fly.
Design:
There are no major technical issues, but many of the technical design choices are absurd, and there are some minor problems. The enemy friegters just abandon their charges, and the enemy waves feel very strange, since a "single" Amun (which, amazingly, has shields! O no!) is available in several waves, making the debriefing advice to kill "the Amun" is rather strange. Finally, a few times when I lost one cargo container and the other was down to only twelve or so percent, I was told that I had lost both. Finally, when the friendly frieghters arrived and left, they did so by the same SubSpace node the enemy was rushing for. Um, why would both consider the linking system safe?
Gameplay:
Gameplay isn't too bad, involving some so-so dogfights and a design philosophy of wearing the player down with (really) weak waves of Anubi before sicing the Amun(s) on the friendly frieghters. Still, it's just not... fun. The lack of technology on both sides makes things boring and turkey-shootish, and the mission overall seems lackluster and rushed.

Must... return.... to Descent 3 Anarchy...
