Description
Make a bombing run on a Vasudan cruiser. This is one of the 2 mission first posted to the net. This mission consists of enemy waves. The briefing and De-Briefing are null, and there is no weapon choice. But, it is ok for being the first. It was an easy mission.

Storyline: 0.0 Stars
The description says it all. There is no story or briefing, just the objective to destroy an Aten and several to "eliminate container."

Balance: 0.0 Stars
You have no weapon selection, but this doesn't matter since your few opponents will die like the dogs they are. And I should mention that you don't actually have to DO anything but watch them die.

Design: 0.5 Stars
Things don't work out in this raid. When starting the mission, your wingmen will collide with you. The Aten leaves as you arrive, so the main objective cannot be completed at all. Your escorts will attack the containers rather than defending Alpha, so you don't even need to do anything at all.

Gameplay: 0.5 Stars
Since you don't have to do anything but sit around, there isn't much play here. If the mission was fun, it might not matter that the objectives don't work. However, attacking cargo boxes isn't my idea of fun.

Other Thoughts:
Another rush job slapped together to be the "first" mission on the internet. A 1/2 star rating is generous.

Bottom Line: A bomb, since you can't make a bombing run on a ship that isn't there. Pass this one up, unless you're a student of history looking to write a doctoral thesis on the evolution of Freespace mission design.
Highs: The fiasco is over quickly. There are cargo boxes to kill.
Lows: The Aten cruiser leaves before you can bomb it. Nothing to do.
